Venus

Sweetest fragrant faerie queen
A beautiful, beautiful wisp of wind
A deliciously wild arcing comet
Meant to be watched, not touched
For touch only stirs the gypsy fire

A regal sculpture, brushed by
A fractureless form without arms
Paradox complete in incompleteness
My lithe and limbless Venus, dancing
To the rhythms of the road

Vibrant and verdant,
Rolling like plunging thunder far too literal
Defining some swirling symphony
Deafening and damping the hunter’s nerve
Innocence denying one more quest

No amount of life and beauty can sate you
For you are all life and beauty to me
So what more can I offer you?
Nothing but silent praise as you dance
My lithe and limbless Venus, dancing

Running from spotlight to spotlight
Forever leaving me breathless
Forever leaving me
In this echoing, empty gallery
